Blog: Try going plant-based this Veganuary

Try going plant-based this Veganuary

Veganuary runs throughout the month of January and is an event that encourages us to try a plant-based diet and live a vegan lifestyle for the duration of January.

The origins of Veganuary

Veganuary was first held in 2014 with the main aim of encouraging people to try a plant-based diet for one month. Throughout the years Veganuary has become more mainstream with millions of people around the world taking a pledge and enjoying the joys of a vegan lifestyle.

Benefits of going vegan

Veganuary is event that embraces veganism and gives people around the world an opportunity to experience the positive impacts associated with a plant-based diet, including improved health, reduced environmental impact.

If you’re thinking of trying Veganuary in 2024, you’ll be pleased to know that there are great benefits of a plant-based diet for your health. These benefits include helping to reduce your weight, lowering cholesterol levels and lowering your chance of serious illnesses such as cancer and heart disease.

There are also many environmental benefits of a plant-based diet, including reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, reduced land use, decreased pollution, reduces water use, and much more.

Plant-based/recipes to try

You might find it difficult to try Veganuary if you never tried a plant-based diet, but if you don’t want to commit to the whole month you could try a meat free Monday and only eat plant-based on one day per week. If we all incorporated more plant-based meals into our diet replacing the meat meals, the collective benefits could be huge both for health and the planet.
