World Wildlife Day

This weekend marks World Wildlife Day, an event that celebrates and brings awareness to wildlife across the globe.

Why World Wildlife Day is important?

In the UK and around the world, nature is in crisis. Since the 1970s, around 69% of the global wildlife population has decreased and, in the UK, around 70% of woodlands have been lost.

The theme for World Wildlife Day

The theme for this year is “Partnership for Wildlife Reservations” which calls for people to forge partnerships to make an impact and make the world a better place for wildlife.

Ways that you can get involved in this day

If you are someone who is passionate about wildlife and want to help make a difference, there are a few ways that you can help.

• Getting to know the species in your area – If you are able to find out what species are in your area and if they are in danger, then you and your community can help conserve them.

• Spreading the word on social media – You can help spread this day on social media by using hashtags or posting about species that might be in danger.

We hope that you can help be involved in this day to make a difference to wildlife. The more people that are involved the better and a bigger difference can be made.
